Andrew Rosz Wins 2009 Top-Gun Open
Tennis Championship!
On
Wednesday, March 11, 2009,
finalists Andrew Rosz and Paul Newman met again for the second time as
finalists in the final
round of the 2009 Top Gun Open Tennis Championships in Lauderhill
Florida. As 6:30 PM approached, the chair umpire, linesmen, and
spectators took their seats and the match began promptly as
scheduled. Andrew won the toss and elected to serve and easily won
the first four points and the opening game. Andrew was also quick
to break Newman's serve to go up an early break. But not to be
outdone, Paul then immediately broke back to get the first set back on
serve... But that was about it for Newman in the first set as Andrew won
the next four games straight to take the first set 6-1.
Newman
then served to open the second set and after a considerable struggle,
Newman finally managed to hold his serve after having survived four
break points. But the strain of holding serve seemed to take its
toll on Newman's ability to press on and Andrew quickly capitalized on
the opportunity of his struggling opponent to take a commanding lead in
the second set with winner after winner and blast after
blast. Not long thereafter, Andrew decisively closed out the
second set and the match. Final scores: Andrew
Rosz defeats Paul Newman 6-1, 6-1.
Congratulations
to both players; Andrew Rosz seeded #1 and Paul Newman seeded #2.
You both put on a great show and we all look forward to seeing you both back again next
year.
